The woman explained that she and her twin had always taken studio photographs together every year to mark their birthday. However, after celebrating their 26th birthday in 2022, she got married and later became pregnant.
As her 27th birthday approached, her twin reportedly contacted her to ask when they would have their usual birthday photoshoot. She said she informed him that she would first discuss the matter with her husband.
According to her, her husband questioned whether she was being serious, suggesting that pregnancy hormones might be influencing her decision.
She eventually told her twin that the photoshoot would no longer be possible because she was now married. She said her twin then understood that marriage could change things between them.
Sharing the experience on Facebook, she wrote, “Every birthday, I take studio pics with my twin and in 2022, we took this one for our 26th birthday not knowing I was going to get married that year.”
She added, “When our 27th birthday was approaching, I was already pregnant but my twin was not aware. He called me to ask when we will be going to take our birthday pictures. I told him I would let him know that I would discuss with my husband.”
The woman, however, said she personally did not believe marriage should prevent her from maintaining the tradition with her twin brother.
“But personally to me, I don’t think it’s wrong to take pictures with my twin even though I’m married or do you think it’s wrong too?” she asked.
Her post generated mixed reactions online, with several Facebook users arguing that she should not have allowed marriage to create distance between her and her twin.
Some married twins also shared their experiences, saying they have continued taking birthday photographs with their twins despite being married, while others argued that certain boundaries should be respected after marriage.
